Video description:
The first film on this video, produced by the Air Force at Tuy Hoa Air Base, documents activities of Lt Col Preston S. Flanagan of the 31st TFW who flew the same C-47 aircraft that he had flown during World War II in Africa and Asia. Video opens with an interview with Col. Flanagan about his experiences with the C-47. Includes Col. Flanagan's preflight inspection (walk-around) of the aircraft. There are excellent exterior and interior shots of the aircraft on the gound and in flight. Good views of the cockpit and instruments. Please note! With the exception of the interview, there is no narration. A music soundtrack has been added. "The Intruders," which features excellent scenes aboard the EC-47, is a narrated film directed at radio operators emphasizing the importance of encoding messages that could fall into the wrong hands. Illustrates the cat and mouse game played by the viet cong who have set up small listening posts to intercept messages and U.S. efforts to electronically find and destroy such listening posts. The next film is titled "Antique Airlines Tan Son Nhut" and covers activities of the 360th Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron (TEWS) aircrews in support of Combat Cougar (airborne radio direction finding) utilizing the EC-47 specially equipped for the mission. The last part of this video features AC-47 operations in Vietnam. Includes scenes from combat missions.
