One of the BS reasons we are using unmanned Predators to attack rebels in Pakistan, is because there are no AMERICAN human pilots/observers on board who would have morals and possibly object to civilians being killed—which plays right into Islamic rebel hands. If you want to see a conscience-less "Predator" in action--look at this clip of a GERMAN airman flying a Fieseler Storch STOL "grasshopper" that spots the Bielski rebel group and has no qualms about sending in Stuka attack dive bombers to slaughter civilians. You can say what you want about today's weak ego redneck American G.I.s.; but the WW2/Korean/Vietnam war American Grasshopper pilots--often adult reservists with families and secure egos--wouldn't have murdered civilians in the open to get to military targets. Thats the whole problem with the Pentagon's obsession with UAVs—its based on immoral irresponsibility to be able to lash out at "ragheads" and not worry about civilian casualties in the process--that also contradicts the sound practices described in the lofty counter-insurgency jargon they embrace--when what we need is HUMANS in observation/attack aircraft that can differentiate between friend and foes--even to the point of actively diving and forcing the civilians away—which a thin, weak, winged UAV on a straight-line, flight path cannot do lest it lose datalink to the fiends below—and crash.
