This peaceful sanctuary lies within the beautiful greenbelt on Staten Island. We extol this natural spot not to betray its secrets but to make a gentle nod of its existence for not too long ago this wetland area would have been lost to us forever.

A creation of the last ice age this place is the home of birds animals ancient soils and native shrubs and a forest of Oaks Birches Magnolias Chestnuts and Hickory.

We say no more so that the secrets of this special place remain intact.
The greenbelt must remain wild and free and we must protect it as once these areas are taken away they will be lost to us and our children's children forever.
