MILAN (AFX) - The Turkish government has made a 'request of information' to Finmeccanica SpA's unit Alenia Aeronautica in view of the possible purchase of 70-100 Eurofighter military jets, the daily MF said without giving a source.

Alenia is in charge of marketing the fighter plane in certain markets, including Turkey.

The plane is built by a consortium grouping European Aeronautic Defence and Space Co NV (EADS), BAE Systems PLC and Alenia.

If Turkey confirms its interest in the jets, purchase talks could start early 2006 and represent an order of at least 3.5 bln eur, MF said.continue..
