J-UCAS Research program restructured

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE | The Aeronautical Systems Center opened the Joint Unmanned Combat Air Systems program office here Tuesday, taking the reins from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.

Under the new structure, the Air Force and Navy share management responsibilities but report to ASC Commander Lt. Gen. John Hudson, ASC announced.

J-UCAS is a program to develop the next generation of unmanned combat aircraft. Two aircraft, the X-45 and X-47, have been developed under the program, a merger of formerly separate Air Force and Navy programs.
