Gripen Over Europe

During spring and fall Gripen takes part in various international exercises but summer is the air show time in Europe. The international season started in mid June for Gripen, at the Airshow 2005 in Karup, Denmark.

The week after, three Gripen aircraft from the Swedish Air Force F17 wing took off for Zeltweg in Austria, a big air show with more than 250 000 spectators over two days.

Sadly, this was the last chance to see a solo display by one of Gripens grandfathers, an operational Saab Draken fighter, a classic aircraft that turned 50 this year.
