Dutch F-16 Down at Cornfield (updated)

Today at around 1 PM GMT, a Dutch F-16 crashed at the Cornfield NATO training area, in the north of Holland.

According to reports, the engine flamed out while the pilot was practicing with flares. The fighter was unable to reach its airbase at Leeuwarden, so the pilot had to bail out. He was later picked up by a SAR helicopter. The pilot is OK.

The exact coordinates of the crash site are known. The removal/detonation of a WWII bomb has been postponed by one hour. Also, all Volkel-based F-16's have been moved to Leeuwarden because of melting tarmac.
All in all, a pretty busy for the RNAF at Leeuwarden!
