Pratt and Whitney Awarded $17 Million for F135 Engine Modification, Testing

(DoD Contract Announcements) - Pratt and Whitney, Military Engines, East Hartford, Conn., is being awarded an $11,999,724 modification to a previously awarded cost-plus-award-fee contract to incorporate revised roll post bay ventilation changes into the F-135 propulsion system.

These changes are required to meet revised system development and demonstration flight test roll post leakage requirements specified by Lockheed Martin, the F-35 air system prime contractor.
Work will be performed in Bristol, England (75 percent), and East Hartford, Conn. (25 percent), and is expected to be completed in September 2008.
Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.


Pratt and Whitney, Military Engines, East Hartford, Conn., is being awarded a $5,462,704 modification to a previously awarded cost-plus-award-fee contract for the procurement of unique F-135 special test equipment required to perform F-135 engine ram air testing.

Work will be performed in West Palm Beach, Fla. (95 percent), and East Hartford, Conn. (5 percent), and is expected to be completed in March 2007.
Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.
