U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman John Warner said he opposes a Pentagon plan to cancel a Rolls-Royce Group Plc-General Electric Co. program to produce a back-up engine for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.Warner said he would convene a hearing as early as next week to hear the Pentagon's rationale for canceling the 10-year-old program for the engine, intended as a backup for the primary engine produced by United Technologies Corp.'s Pratt & Whitney.
