India, Russia designing fifth-generation fighter

New Delhi - India and Russia are designing a fifth-generation fighter jet, Russian ambassador Vyacheslav Trubnikov revealed in media reports Thursday.

The Russian envoy said the two countries had reached an agreement for designing, producing and marketing of the interceptor-fighter jet.

'It is a brilliant example of international cooperation. Starting from design, it is something new,' Trubnikov was quoted by the Hindu newspaper as saying. 'It goes beyond the relationship of a buyer and seller, it is a mutual effort everywhere.'

Local media has reported that the Indian Air Force has been talking with Russian firms such as MiG and Sukhoi Holdings for the production of such aircraft.continue..
