U.S., U.K. Firms Winning Big In JSF Contracting, Report Says

U.S. and British companies have won nearly all of the subcontracts awarded by the prime contractors and their teammates for the development of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, according to a new report by the General Accounting Office.
U.S. firms have received $10.4 billion, or 73.9 percent, of the $14 billion in subcontracts awarded as of Dec. 31, 2003. Of the $3.6 billion awarded to foreign firms, more than $3.3 billion has gone to companies in the United Kingdom, the biggest foreign financial contributor to the JSF program. That has left less than $300 million for other countries, including the program's seven other international partners - Australia, Canada, Denmark, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway and Turkey.
