F-15K Fighter Jet Named 'Slam Eagle'
TAEGU _ In the blue winter sky above Taegu, some 300 kilometers south of Seoul, the F-15K Strike Fighter made its first and historic flight under the flag of South Korea, featuring high-performance maneuvers and unmatched power.

The new combat aircraft produced by Boeing of the United States has been named the ``Slam Eagle,’’ a compound of a wish to ``gain a compete victory’’ in the air defense of the Korean Peninsula, an Air Force spokesman said.

A ceremony marking the introduction of the state-of-the-art fighter jet to the country took place at the 11th Fighter Wing Squadron of the Air Force, with the attendance of ranking officials, including Defense Minister Yoon Kwang-ung and Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Kim Sung-il.

An advanced derivative of the U.S. Air Force F-15E, the F-15K can conduct air-to-ground, air-to-air and air-to-sea missions during the day or at night, in virtually any weather.
