USAF To Boost ISR Funding Share

The U.S. Air Force will continue to aggressively develop its intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities, Brig. Gen. Allison Hickey, the service’s director of its Future Total Force and deputy chief of staff for plans and programs, said Oct. 12.
The service expects to spend about half of its funding on what it calls joint enablers — aircraft and gear to handle missions like ISR, electronic warfare and global mobility — compared with the 45 percent the service now spends, according to charts released by Hickey.
In the 1960s, the service spent about one-third of its budget on such missions, the charts showed.
