Electric-system test for F-35 is successful
fWith the flip of a switch, Lockheed Martin moved one significant step closer Wednesday to the day the first F-35 joint strike fighter takes to the air.

The successful test of the primary electrical system on the first test aircraft is a milestone in the development of one of the most technologically advanced airplanes ever.

Although the many components had been tested individually, this was the first comprehensive test of the system that will supply and control electrical power for the F-35's aircraft flight-control, communication and weapons systems.

"The successful, on-time achievement of this event further demonstrates that the F-35 joint strike fighter program is progressing as planned and confirms the value and effectiveness of its innovative design and build process," said Ralph Heath, president of Lockheed Martin Aeronautics.
