Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld calls the C-130J a "work horse" that will grow in number but hedges on the future of the F/A-22 in a prerecorded interview airing this month on Georgia cable stations.
Rumsfeld appeared on Georgia Sen. Saxby Chambliss' cable show in an interview recorded last month from the Pentagon. Chambliss' office plans to distribute copies next week to stations across the state as well as a Pentagon television service, which broadcasts it to troops overseas.
Although the half-hour interview deals mostly with national concerns such as the war in Iraq and treatment of terror suspects, the secretary does provide a glimpse of his thinking about the two Georgia.m.ade weapons systems.
