Commander Eileen Collins gently steered Discovery into its berth at the International Space Station at 7:17 p.m. EDT (1117 GMT) this morning. It is the first shuttle to arrive at the station in almost 1,000 days. During its final approach the orbiter performed a backflip so the station crew could check its heatshield for damage.
