ATHENS (Reuters) - Greece has decided to scrap a 4.9 billion euro (3.4 billion pound) agreement with EADS to buy 60 Eurofighter jets and will launch a new tender for the war planes in 2005, a defence ministry source says.

"We are in no way bound by the decision of the former (socialist) government", the source told Reuters on Tuesday. "We are going to a new tender in 2005 for the purchase of our new fighter jets. About 60 are needed, according to the air force's operational needs. The tender would be open to all bidder."continue..
