12 F-22 fighters headed to Okinawa next month

NAHA, Japan -- Twelve
F-22A Raptor stealth fighter jets will be deployed temporarily at the U.S. Air Force’s Kadena base in Okinawa beginning in early February, U.S. forces in Japan said Tuesday.
It will be the first time that the F-22As have been deployed at a U.S. base outside U.S. territory, the military said.
Tokyo and Washington have basically agreed to relocate the flight training of U.S. F-15 fighter jets at the base to six Japanese Air Self-Defense Force bases outside Okinawa, beginning around February, as part of an effort to reduce burdens on residents in Japan’s southernmost prefecture.
