Nov. 6 (Bloomberg) -- Austrian Chancellor Wolfgang Schuessel's People's Party plans to resume talks about forming a government with the Social Democrats as soon as probes into the purchase of fighter planes and banks supervision are over.
Schuessel on Oct. 30 suspended the talks after the Social Democrats pushed through the formation of two parliamentary committees. One is re-examining whether the country should buy 18
Eurofighter GmbH jets and the second is investigating whether the country's banking supervisors failed to uncover risks that led to more than 2 billion euros ($2.54 billion) of investment losses at Bawag PSK Bank and Hypo-Group Alpe Adria.
``We won't have investigations and negotiations on the same day,'' Schuessel said in an e-mailed statement late yesterday. Schuessel said the probes should be finished as soon as possible so that the parties can resume talks.
