KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 12 (Bernama) -- The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Sukhoi fighter aircraft,
SU-30MKM, is expected to make its maiden flight in January next year.
RMAF Headquarters Planning and Development Assistant Chief of Staff Brigadier General Datuk Che Yahaya Idris said this was based on the stages of the aircraft construction in Russia, which was currently in the final phase.
Che Yahaya, who has just returned from Russia to observe the status of the fighter aircraft's development, said: "Currently, all parts have been assembled but not yet installed."
"God willing, the first aircraft is expected to be ready and can make its first flight in January next year," he said at the closing of a Russian language course for 135 RMAF officers, organised by the Institut Terjemahan Negara Malaysia Berhad, here Tuesday.
