THE debate over Australia's future air defences, which are pivotal to the nation's long-term future, has taken a new twist.

My article (The Australian, July 5) setting out some of the issues in the debate in preparation for the meeting of the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence set for Monday August 2, has provoked a number of phone calls from senior people closely linked to the defence community and Parliamentary Liberal party.continue..
