Lockheed gets $2 billion U.S. F/A-22 contract

WASHINGTON, July 1 (Reuters) - Lockheed Martin Corp. (LMT.N: Quote, Profile, Research) has been awarded a $2 billion Air Force contract modification for the previously announced purchase of 22 F/A-22 Raptor fighter aircraft, the Pentagon said Thursday.
The modification "definitizes" the purchase of the batch known as Lot 4 and associated equipment, a contract announcement said.
The F/A-22 is designed to replace the 15-C as as the top U.S. air-to-air fighter.
