India seeks collaboration with global arms makers
NEW DELHI - Defence minister Pranab Mukherjee asked international weapons-makers yesterday to collaborate with Indian companies to utilize their skills and strengths, as global manufacturers showcased their products at a defence exhibition in New Delhi.

Mukherjee said the government wanted to encourage joint ventures, co-production and co-marketing to take advantage of India’s capabilities and production units.

Weapons manufacturers from around the world are promoting their products at the four-day exhibition in India, which plans to spend tens of billions of dollars (euros) in defence purchases over the next few years.
