The UK's acquisition of the Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter has moved a step closer to reality, with the Ministry of Defence having given its so-called Main Gate approval for the construction of two Future Aircraft Carriers (CVF) worth up to 3.9 billion Pounds ($8 billion).

Alenia Aeronautica, a Finmeccanica company, has delivered the third C-27J tactical transport aircraft to the Italian Air Force. The ItAF have ordered 12 of the twin-engine aircraft, seven of which will be in service by the year end.

CHICAGO, July 26, 2007 -- The innovative Boeing [NYSE: BA] Blended Wing Body (BWB) research aircraft -- designated the X-48B -- flew for the first time last week at NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center at Edwards Air Force Base in California.
