e2v technologies in the East of England has won a £4.3 million order to supply travelling wave tubes (TWTs) for the new Euro-fighter Typhoon Defensive Aids Sub System (DASS).

DASS is designed to enhance aircraft survivability with an advanced suite of self defence sensors and countermeasures. TWTs are an important component in this system.

The order comes via SELEX Sensors and Airborne Systems (SELEX S&AS), which supplies the state-of-the-art DASS electronic warfare suite to the Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft, under contract from BAE Systems.

The TWTs will be used on a fleet of over 380 aircraft and will be delivered by e2v over the next two and a half years.

It has been a key element of e2v’s strategic plan to secure new contracts for its TWTs and related products. This contract is an important landmark in achieving this strategic objective and ensures that e2v will be well positioned for future global business opportunities.continue..
