Pentagon meeting held on F-35's future

The Dallas-based Star-Telegram newspaper reports senior Pentagon officials met yesterday, to discuss the progress of development of the stealthy F-35 Lightning II fighter.

With the program two years behind scedule and over budget, difficult decisions have to be made in the coming months. This meeting was a formal one by the defense acquisition board, but one of the topics discussed was whether to approve production of the next batch of 12 aircraft.

According to a Pentagon spokeswoman no formal announcement of the outcome of the meeting can be expected.continue..
