Aircraft manufacturer Lockheed Martin needs to offer Norwegian industry improved terms before Norway is willing to sign a production agreement with the US for the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF).

This is the opinion of Undersecretary of State for the Defence Department, Espen Barth Eide. He is now in Washington for talks on the JSF project.

An important point for the talks in the US, is whether or not the Kongsberg Group will be invited to produce parts for the JSF, Aftenposten writes.

Barth Eide also maintains that the Norwegian government is still considering three equal competitors, namely JSF, the Eurofighter and the Swedish jet fighter Gripen.
