Mystery cloaks Predator B 'drone' crash

The crash and destruction of a $6.5 million unmanned aerial vehicle on Tuesday morning 10 miles north of Nogales remains a mystery but is under investigation.

Michael Friel, director of Border Security Media Division for U.S. Customs and Border Portection, said that other than the UAV, there was no other property damage or injuries.

Lost contact

He said that officials lost contact with the drone at about 2:49 a.m.

"We immediately dispatched a Black Hawk helicopter" whose crew found the (wreckage) at about three hours later, Friel said.

An investigative team went to the scene and, as of press time, the exact cause of the crash had not been determined, he said.
