Tanker-proposal request expected by autumn

ORLANDO, Fla. - A request for proposals (RfP) likely will go out to industry by autumn 2006 for the Air Force's contemplated purchase of tanker aircraft, service secretary Michael Wynne told reporters at the Air Force Association show here.

George Muellner, president of the Advanced Systems unit of Boeing’s Integrated Defense Systems, said recently he expected a request for information — a preliminary step toward the RfP — within a month or so.continue..
