Bombers head north to RED FLAG-Alaska

A B-52 Stratofortress sits in pre-contact position at 27,000 feet to be aerial refueled during RED FLAG-Alaska 09-1 Oct. 16, at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. B-52s flew a 23 hour long endurance mission from Andersen Air Base, Guam and an 18 hour flight from Barksdale Air Force Base, La. The B-52 is assigned to the 96th Bomb Squadron at Barksdale.
