A B-52 Stratofortress heads toward its target at Pele Bombing Range, Hawaii. In September's Exercise Koa Lightning, B-52 aircrews dropped inert weapons on their targets for the first time. The aircraft were talked in to the targets by joint terminal air controllers on the ground. This training is critical in the war on terrorism, enhances security in the Western Pacific and provides integrated training opportunities.
