Over Alaska -- A 90th Fighter Squadron F-22A Raptor escorts a Russian TU-95 Bear out of Alaskan NORAD Region airspace Nov. 22, 2007. This marked the first time a Raptor was called upon to support the ANR mission.

ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, ALASKA -- A deployed F-15 from Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. takes off in full after-burners during Northern Edge '08 May 6. Northern Edge 2008, the largest military training exercise in Alaska, began May 5 with roughly 5,000 U.S. active duty, national guard, and reserve component Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors, and Marine participants. More than 120 aircraft play a part in this air-centric Alaskan Command exercise.

A Kadena Air Base crew chief prepares to marshal out an F-15C Eagle during the early morning hours at Kadena Air Base, Japan, April 23 before its departure to the U.S., symbolizing the end of the Iron Flow program here. The aircraft was one of three jets that left to be transferred to Air National Guard units under Iron Flow which exchanged Kadena's older F-15's with newer models from other active- duty bases. All newer jets have been received and these were the last three older aircraft to be turned in.
