ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, ALASKA -- A deployed F-15 from Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. takes off in full after-burners during Northern Edge '08 May 6. Northern Edge 2008, the largest military training exercise in Alaska, began May 5 with roughly 5,000 U.S. active duty, national guard, and reserve component Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors, and Marine participants. More than 120 aircraft play a part in this air-centric Alaskan Command exercise.

A Kadena Air Base crew chief prepares to marshal out an F-15C Eagle during the early morning hours at Kadena Air Base, Japan, April 23 before its departure to the U.S., symbolizing the end of the Iron Flow program here.
