B-52s participate in Green Lightning, Australian air show A B-52 Stratofortress from Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, is escorted by Hornets from the Royal Australian Air Force March 21 en route to the Delamere Bombing Range as part of the Green Lightning exercise that ended last week in Australia. The Delamere Bombing Range facility in the Northern Territory is a world class military exercise site that allows many skills to be honed and tested.

B-52 tests synthetic fuel in cold weather A B-52 Stratofortress on the Minot Air Force Base, N.D., flightline fires up its engines before daybreak Jan. 30 during a test to measure the difference between JP-8 fuel and a new synthetic fuel. The testing of synthetic fuel in cold weather is the last step in the certification process to help reduce Air Force dependence on imported fuel. With added wind chill, Minot experienced temperatures of minus 25 degrees on this day.

A B-52 Stratofortress takes off armed with four Mk 56 mines ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam – A B-52 Stratofortress takes off from here armed with four Mk 56 mines Nov 3. This sortie was the 10th and final mission of a week-long joint sea mine laying exercise with the Navy. The B-52s dropped a total of 98 inert mines on two practice mine fields that were 3-miles long, and a mile wide.
